FAQs

Why don’t you have mixed breed dogs?

Goldendoodle. Cavapoo. These dogs seemingly combine the best features of two different breeds - for example, people are often told that a Goldendoodle (a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle) provides the fun energy of a Golden Retriever and the hypoallergenic coat of a Poodle.

In reality, the genetics of these crosses raise serious questions about the suitability of these dogs for their intended purpose, and the main problems it that you never really know exactly what you will be getting.

How do you select the kennels and breeders?

It’s really simple - by visiting regularly in person (yes, even in the middle of a pandemic!). With more than 20 years of experience in dog shows, we don’t buy into the fallacy that one could ever rely on third parties when it comes to breeder selection, no matter how well intentioned.

Why do you have so few puppies available? I want to choose from the whole litter!

Breeders which are both reputable (famous champion lines) and ethical (practice responsible and purposeful breeding) are few and far between to begin with. Even if they have litters available, priority always goes to breed improvement and conformation (i.e. kept for showing and future breeding), with the remaining puppies going to pet homes.

The best breeders also keep long waitlists and already have more homes in waiting than puppies available. If we are lucky, we get offered 1-2 puppies in between long waits. Shipping and logistics are especially costly in this season, making overseas export all the more undesirable - given the long list of good homes in their home country (South Korea), there is very little reason to ship.

Whole litters that are exported overseas simply do not sit well with genuine quality and a breeder’s care and love for the puppies which they have put in so much work to raise. For this reason, we do not have entire litters for booking (🚩🚩🚩).

Your puppies are so calm! Can I breed them after I take them home?

No. All our puppies are sold with a spay/neuter contract.

Why are all your puppies more than 7 months old?

Our puppies are bred in South Korea and directly imported from South Korea to Singapore. Local regulations are such that they must be at least 7 months old before they are fit to fly. Older puppies have spent more time with their parents and are wonderful, sweet tempered and don’t get quite as anxious as young puppies.
